Card information design and idea

Image
After producing the final products and overall mockups I felt like something was missing from the customer experience. Originally when thinking about my design i remebered as part of the inital idea i wanted to create smaller infomration cards that would give some infomartion regarding the mission of the brand and ways that customer could reuse our pakcaging.  Below shows the firts card i created itn hich would go in the gift set to show the customer how they could be using the packaging once it is finished. As part of the brief it was important to think about th ematerials used and how they couod be repurposed. I knew i wanted to use glass for the honey, this is a traditional material to keep the honey fresh. Glass is a sustainable option as it can be recled and reused however, it is important we think about the reuse as there is alot f energy required to make glass in the first place. That is wy i wanted to create information cards for the customers so they can see step by steps ...

Animating social media posts and other adverisments

Image
After recieving some feedback it was suggested that i should maybe think about my advertisment and maybe see how i could develop it further by perhaps creating some animation on to the original posts. I decided to do this using procreates animation system to help create a low frame stop motion style animation.  The first animation can be seen below when looking at the original post i felt some good elements that i could animate such as the text and pehaps adding other elements. Therefore i started creating two different frames for the text that would alternate back and fourth  showing moement. I also added a newer extra element creating a bee style trail to form as a frame around the pghotogrpah, this added length to the animation aswell as a movement of path adding a depth and a narrative. For this animation i had a two frame pero second setting allowing for tht jumpy almost stop motion feel whciih i really like. I also chose to work in black monochrome line work to sit on to...

Social media post concepts

Image
Inspiration After taking some product photos I felt a fun next step would be to play around with creating social media posts, specifically made for Instagram. With social media becoming a great way to promote a business within the modern age, as it allows even smaller businesses to help promote their business to a wider audience easily, therefore I felt it would be fun to create a  couple of graphics to post and also what the Instagram would look like for hope's honey.  As part of this next step for my development I needed to research into different graphics and how companies choose to promote the products. Above was an example I found on Pinterest, this design really stuck out to me as I loved its bright contrasting colours and simple shapes. The overall design is actually quite simple with the product sat in the middle, however, with all the elements put together I feel it looks rather effective and would draw the user in.  The second example I also found on Pinterest. ...

Creating my own product photos

Image
After doing some research and looking for some inspiration I decided it would be a great idea to have my own go and begin producing some photos of the products which could be used for future elements such as social media and promotion.  I had two pastel yellow and pink card board which I had used for past product photography of my own work and felt the colours actually matched the branding perfectly. I wanted to go for a soft pastel feel with the natural elements of flowers reflecting the products. The two images below found on Pinterest show the inspiration of the feel I was going for.  I love the way both height and the use of natural sunlight has been used to add depth within the image and create contrast which draws your eyes in yet still having an overall soft look. Within my images i chose to use a pastel milk crate to add height to my images. These creates are a current trend within the décor industry and therefore brings that current feel to my work.   ...

Product photography inspiration

Image
When thinking about my project and how i could move further a key element of creating branding that came to mind, had to be product photography. Product photography is an important element when selling a product as it help captures it and help promote it for online point of sale.  However, I feel personally that these product shouldn't be just taken against a plain background but instead have some fun add some depth and some height, and maybe create a vibe that will help appeal to our chosen targeted audience. That's why when looking for inspiration I wanted to look for fun and interesting style of displaying a product.   Above shows three inspiration photos i found from Pinterest all  with that vibe that i would love to include in my own. I particularly love these images as i love the bright energy they have within the background and decorative elements. In all the photos you can see the photographer as you different props to help bring height to the image. I feel t...

Final web design

Image
After finalising all my plans and reviewing my plan i began building the visuals of how i would imagine my website to look. Unfortunately this is just a visual representation and does not include a working site however i felt it would be a good idea to show i i visualise the home page which customers would first see when entering the brand website. Of course on the real website i would link to different pages such as a product page and also an about us where i would discuss the sustainability behind the product and the story behind the brand.  As for creating the look I knew I wanted to keep that original colour and pattern way that is seen on my main honey and add those black details that I received a lot of positive feedback on during my presentation. I myself also like this idea as i feel it felt fun an playful and i wanted that to be reflected within my website. As for the layout i kept to the traditional header where customers w...

Website research and inspiration

Image
After creating some mockup pieces and deciding on final elements i felt it would be a good time to work on different parts that would add to the overall brand. My inital thought was to add a website where customer would be able to buy the products online aswell as in shop, i feel it ould also be a great place to add infromation where customers can read over the mission of the brand and the sustainbility issues that feel so im[ortnat for the product and the brief. It will also work as an overall home an dhub for the brand where customers can refer baclk to if they ever have any problems and need to find a contact for any product/business related issues.  Therefore, i felt my next would to look at some different inspiration, see how other designers have tackled the issue and linked it towards their own brand. The first website is a greate example, the image shows a website for a cookie product. I really liked this website and feel it would a great clear example as it had a clear inte...

Website plan

Image
After looking at a range of different inspiration from Pinterest I began ,making a mock-up plan of how i would like my website to look. I knew I wanted to have the yellow pattern way as seen on the original honey as I know this is how I would like the branding to be recognised by customers. I also knew i wanted to have a fun doodle feel within the writing and decorative elements. This is something that has been used throughout my project and something I wanted to carry onto my website to give it a fun light-hearted feel.  Overall I like the look and I think when elements have been added it will look rather successful when speaking about the products and the brand.  Now moving forward I intend to finalise the design adding further details, I may feel like moving different elements around depending on the content however this is something I aim to see and determine when building the final design.

Final gift packaging design

Image
After experimenting with different nets and pacakging looks i knew i was happy with th eoverall basics, i really like th simplicity of thr box which is then contrasted by the hexagon windows. Once i created the box i took a photo whihc i then used as a base for me to draw over so i could picture it visually. I chose to stick to that yellow colour pattern as this is what i have used throughout the branding. i also kept that logo bold in the centre ready for the customer to spot and see on the shelf. I also decided to add that bee trail that would folloow throughput the net of the box.  As for the materials used, i would like t o keep to a mixture of recycled cardboard and kraft paper. I would love for the whole pakcaging to be mad efro kraft paper as the materials is very sustianble due to the differ natural wood paper it is amde from. However, unfortunelty kraft paper tends to be light and have not much structure to hold the heavier glass jars, therefore, i would like to add that r...

Experimenting with materials and designs for gift packaging

Image
After playing arounnd with some sketches i flet it would e important to think about th ephysicaly structure of the gift packging. During this prociess i looked on pinterest and i found a range of different net examples which  could use to help build my gift pakcaging. Below shows three of my different favourites, i liked these particulalr three as i feel they could really develop in a way that i would love and still help commuicate my product. I also like that the majority have a hexagon shape icluded as this is something i have included throughout icluding in my jar an pattern.  I really like this net as i feelt it has a very different format,  my only concern would be how the product sit within. The second box i also like and feelit is rather tradtitional with a good easy handle for movement within the customer. The only thing is it does not include any hexagon elements however, this could be added within shapes windows. The final net i fpund i loved had a hexagonal bas...

Gift packaging sketches

Image
After looking at some different inspiration online i felt the great next step would to begin thinking about my ideas of the product design, therefpre i srted sketching some ideas playing with shapes and how i would picture with my own work. These are just some brief sketches with some inital notes just to show my process when planning and experimenitng. My next step would to thin about these elements maybe experimenting witht ehir shapes and looking at different neyts that i could use to help build th eoverall design.

Lid alternatives

Image
When thinking about packaging i have wanted to make sure that my packaging is sustinble in some way, I had a look at the majority of the packaging however, i felt there was a lack of research regading the lid itself. The lid i feel is a tricky thing, as, you need to also think aboutthe fuctionality as well as the sustainbility, making sure that it can keep the honey air tight to her preserve it. Below are a few different options i found.  Aliminum lid (no plastic seal) The first  option i found was the traditional aliminum lid that can be found on most jars. This is a reliable option as it is known well for keeping its product fresh and preserved annd is also an easily produceable option. As for the sustainabiliy elements, all alimiun jar lids can be recyeld and therefore reused. If i was also to use these lids i would make sure there was no plastic seal, i want my products to be 100% plastic free and feel this element is simply a waste. (cork lid) Cork is a great sustaiable o...

Gift packaging inspiration

Image
After thinking about my product itself and finalising all those details it was time to think about the gift packaging specifically the box it is sold in. I started looing at different inspiration on Pinterest looking for unique ideas and look. Below I included some that really caught my eye. The on above shows a git set for some condaments, something similar to my own packaging. This one stood out to me as i particualrly liked the way the product opened revealing the product. I also felt the way the produts sa inside looked rather sercure and gave almost a luxury feel. I also feel the use of colour within this product was really efffective, as it was very limted and made the hot pink stand out against the blue tones.  The second piece i looked at was alot more od a raw sustaainbale feel, the pacakging is very plain and relies simply on the colour of the cardboard, and the black of th elogo. I really like this packaging althought it appears simple it is the texture which is revaled ...

Finalising and adding finishing details- labels

Image
After developing many different labels and altering different parts, i finally created the final designs for my labels. Below shows all four designs for the gift set all with a similar format and base. For exmaple i made sure to include that QR code, as this is a greta think to consider as it will allow the customer to instantly scan and be directed the the brand website. I also altered the nutirtion facts so it sits plainly on the pattern without looking too heavy and making sure it is stil readable.  I also chose to include the little doodle details such as the best before date (soemthing that must be included) and also a little note regarding the seeded paper so it is clear communication for the customers as that is the key part within packaging to make sure the consumer knows what they're looking at and what they must do with the packaging once used.  Overall I am really happy with how the final labels look and can't wait to see them printed and applied to my mockup jars. ...
