Social media post concepts

Inspiration

After taking some product photos I felt a fun next step would be to play around with creating social media posts, specifically made for Instagram. With social media becoming a great way to promote a business within the modern age, as it allows even smaller businesses to help promote their business to a wider audience easily, therefore I felt it would be fun to create a  couple of graphics to post and also what the Instagram would look like for hope's honey.

As part of this next step for my development I needed to research into different graphics and how companies choose to promote the products. Above was an example I found on Pinterest, this design really stuck out to me as I loved its bright contrasting colours and simple shapes. The overall design is actually quite simple with the product sat in the middle, however, with all the elements put together I feel it looks rather effective and would draw the user in.

The second example I also found on Pinterest. This shows a range of different posts for a product and business and shows how they could be used when put together. I really like this example as the pastel toned colour palette really reflects the ice cream sweet product. You can also see the designer used a fun geometric pattern to sit around the designs as decorative elements. I like this technique as adds a fun modern element by combining photographic and illustration elements.

After doing some brief research for inspiration regarding social media i found a few key elements that will be important within my own work. For example on all the posts they will include the company logo or product name. This is a key element as if a social user came across the post thorough a hashtag or advertisement they would instantly be introduced to the brand and not have to go searching and potentially loose their interest. Another element, I found was the importance of colour. On both these posts, they were rather bright and followed a colour palette to help create that overall brand and allow them to become recognisable. These were just some elements that i wanted to think about when creating my own posts.

My Own post designs

Below shows two main posts that I created. I wanted to keep to the original photos that i had taken as part of my product photography. I liked these photos and felt they kept to that warm yellow and pastel colour palette and therefore would sit great with the branding. Therefore, I decided to go with simple black doodle writing similar to what has been seen throughput my project including on my label, on my presentation and on my website. Once again I felt this would be a good idea for decorative elements on the post as it is something that I seen throughout my product and branding.

Below shows my first post, that I created. I wanted this to be rather simple and therefore I decided to simply include the bold black logo and also a QR code with about us annotations for users who are intrigued by the brand and the overall story of the product. I felt this was nice and rather successful as I felt it was rather simple yet there was a nice contrast between the yellow background and the black of the logo and therefore would draw the user in.

For the second post I created, I also included the black handwritten note style overlays. However, I wanted to discuss the idea of sustainability as this is something important within the brief and also my product. For example I did not want to go into too much detail as it needs to be quick and readable for the user to help keep their interest. However, I felt it was important to discuss that sustainability for those who are interested, therefore i once again used that qr code which would take the user to the sustainability area on the website. Therefore it is not too heavy yet still accessible for those who are interested.

I feel this post looks rather successful and feel it works in terms of advertising the product and creating a customer brand for my product.

Instagram mock-up and concept

After creating the initial two posts I felt it would be nice to mock-up an Instagram page and see how it would work sat altogether. When thinking about a branding Instagram I feel it is important to keep to an overall theme within the branding so a customer would easy to be able to identify the account. Therefore i began making sure the Hope's Honey logo was used as the profile picture with the original pattern and colourway. I then used the original colour and pattern way for the story highlight covers.

Story highlights are a great thing ton use on Instagram as it allows viewer to go through past stories and therefore find more information about the Instagram account. Therefore  I sectioned it and named it  including information regarding the products,  the sustainability and even how our product relates to the UN sustainability goals. I wanted to include an element mentioning the UN sustainability goals as this is something that I needed to consider and the relation it has to our own product. For example I created my honey with sustainable packaging and therefore follow the goals of  life on land and also responsible production and consumption. It was nice to include this as it was something i felt would be important to talk about and communicate with customers.

I then began thinking about thinking about what graphics and photographs could use and the layout in which I would post it. This is something to think about as it allows you to create a gallery which would be aesthetically pleasing and therefore attract the customer. I also included my newly made posts  and feel sat together as a whole looked rather successful.

Overall I was happy with the overall look of the Instagram and also the social media posts that I created. I feel the colours sat well together and really told a story regarding the branding. I also was happy with the information provided and felt it wised clear for customers to follow and lead them towards the website where they would be able to see more information and also buy the product.
