Final Packaging info
After showing, my final product i also wanted to include a more detail description regarding the packaging and materials i decided to use as part of the final design, This image was taken from my final client presentation to show the packaging that i used.
Jar
For the jar i kept rather traditional, i want to use simple glass jar. Glass can be rather complicated when it comes to sustainability as it takes alot of energy when produced, However, when reused and recyled it is a great option. Therefore, to ake this a sustainbkle option within our packaging we show customer ways that they can reuse the jars after use. For the lid i went back and fourth between a simple aliminum lid with o plastic seal and also the cork lid. Now cork is most sustinable within the materials used to make it however, hen it comes to user usage it would be rather difficult for it to be used and removed expecially bad for olde rpeople who struggle with usage of their hands. Therefore i decided to go forward withthe classic aliminum lid. This lid is plastic free and can be recycled so therefore used many times. This makes it a more sustainble yet sensible option. As for the label this is something i really wnated to promote within my product, the label has been printed onto wildflower seed plaper with natural inks. The idea of this label is that it can be planted into soild and when grown will produce wildflowers, helping the regrowth of the bee comunity a value that as a brand we promote. The seeded paper has also been used to produce saller A6 information carda. The idea of these cards were to be given with the gift packaging to discuss the message of the product aswell as shwoing a step by step instruction for a DIY whihc cna be used for the jar after use.
Gift packaging
As for the gift packaging it was much more simplistic, i decided to keep to kraft paper and recycled cardboard. I would have loved to keep to all raft apper, as this is a highly sustainable material due to its combination of natueral wood pulp. However, it would not be strong enough to hold the glass jars. Therfore, i inclided cardboard to give strength. This means allgift packaging is plastic free and can easily be recyled by customer once used. As for the coloring i would use natural inks again to reduce any toxic chemicals when discarded. These natural inks may reduce brightness within the colours however, i like this as it adds to a natural feel of the gift packaging.
Overall i a happy with the packaging, i stuck to the idea of creating sustainbility making better chooices for th eplanet anf therefore refering back to the un sustainbility goals specfically ebing responsible production and consumption. I do feel could have pushed it frther when i was fithing back and fourth with the choice of the lid however overall i akm really happy and feel it definetly follows the asks of the brief.
